Physical Therapy support during all stages of Motherhood

  • Pre-Conception

If one of your barriers to getting pregnant is that you have difficulty with vaginal penetration, pelvic floor physical therapy can help decrease tension & improve coordination of those muscles, alter positioning for sex, & help calm your nervous system. If you have another limitation or concern prior to conception, or want help with strengthening & maximizing function prior to pregnancy, PT can also help with that!

  • Pregnancy

Physical therapy during pregnancy includes education at each stage, for such things as altering exercise as needed, combating constipation and pelvic floor symptoms, and adjusting posture to a growing baby and lengthening abdominals. Physical therapy helps manage any pain symptoms that crop up & helps navigate birth prep, communicating with your care team the whole time. It takes a village!

  • Postpartum

After delivery, your physical therapist will examine and treat scars (perineal/c-section) & evaluate you for pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor weakness, & diastasis recti. You will learn how to recruit your abdominals again & incorporate pelvic floor strengthening into your routine so that you can return confidently to activities of exercise and sex. We treat any pain you may be experiencing and teach practical tips to use for lifting and feeding.
